SBIR Award Title

STTR Phase II: Development and commercialization of a Wearable Long-term Monitor for Cardiac Arrhythmias

SBIR Award Abstract

The broader impact/commercial potential of this Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Phase II project is far-reaching in terms of improving the quality of life and the cost/efficacy of healthcare for more than 20 Million people in the USA. We address the need for better methods for identifying and guiding the treatment of ambulatory patients with dangerous heart dysfunctions such as intermittent arrhythmias and heart failure. For example, atrial fibrillation arrhythmia afflicts nearly 8 Million patients in the USA, a... more

Description

A post-doctoral researcher position is available in the area of radio-frequency circuit and system design at the University of California Davis (UCD) and Cadiac Motion LLC (CM). The UCD/CM team is developing a wearable wireless sensor for cardiac health monitoring. The sensor is based on low-power microwave radar principle.

The postdoctoral researcher will be responsible for the design, layout, and characterization of integrated radio frequency transceivers for the medical radar application.

Desired Knowledge

- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Excellent academic credentials and strong analytical skills
- Deep experience in analog and/or radio frequency integrated circuit design in Si CMOS/BiCMOS
- Experience with radar systems and radar signal processing is a plus
- Familiarity with high frequency measurement techniques
- Good communication skills
